Elevated blood pressure is one of the leading causes of death and disability in western countries.  In this presentation I review those dietary factors that may predispose us to hypertension as well as those factors that may help to lower blood pressure.  I cover the reserach on the role that salt, potassium, inflammation, protein type and water fasting can play on blood pressure.

I also talk about the importance of fiber and the role of short chain fatty acids in helping to control energy intake. There is also a 3 min video of Dr Dean Ornish who has demonstrated the ability of diet and a healthy lifestyle in reversing heart disease, cancer and even aging.
